I had meant to post this a few days ago and forgot until just now. My friend Azrael- had posted a cute Windows analogy in the PC forums and I thought it was cute, and some of you might get a kick out of it:

I like windows. It’s like a girlfriend.. she has defects… but you even love the defects at the end.

Yum yum. Spicy fried blue crab claws and hot red beans ‘n rice — the breakfast of champions.

Jim and I went by The Cajun Steamer yesterday after work. Yummy place! Has a little sports bar feel to it, but the food is absolutely outstanding! Best damned Cajun food in Birmingham. Hell, best in Alabama I dare say.

I’ve never been much of a fish eater, but one of my weaknesses is crab claws, and the Cajun Steamer definitely has the BEST! The batter is seasoned with a bit of heat, but not to the point of bringing you to tears. The sauce is always fresh tasting (probably homemade) and has ample amounts of horseradish.

Their red beans ‘n rice tastes *just* like that which you’d eat in N’awlins. No matter how good Zatarain’s mixes are, you can’t get shit this good out of a box! These are the kind that take two days to cook! (was so good I had to order an extra plate to go so I could have them for brekkie with my leftover crab claws! *g*)

Every time I walk into that place, I just like to stand in the doorway and smell the air. Jim says that it “smells like home” … he grew up in New Orleans. Me, I’m ‘Bama born and raised, but NOLA was a place I liked to call my “home away from home.”

*sigh* Moving on …

We went by Costco after lunch and bought a few goodies for dinner this weekend. Tried some potstickers for the first time … very yummy!

Oh, and for you MACESS’ites (*ahem* Reggie, Darron, et. al.) who are still hanging around, I saw Lorna Mohl. She looked great and sounds like she’s enjoying her retirement. I gave her one of my business cards, so I’m hoping she’ll email me and keep in touch.

Seeing her was really cool, because I had just been thinking about her a few days ago and was wondering how she was doing. (Lorna was a 2nd ‘mom’ to me during my time with MACESS and a very good friend.)

I’ve been spending most of my time lately on my food blog, I mean, recipes site. hehe I’ve gotten a LOT of really good feedback from visitors, friends, and family.

If you have recipes, or would like to comment on some I have posted, don’t be shy — feel free to share!

I’ve also spent a lot of time coding stuff for my brother’s campaign website. I swear, I think I’m putting more work into his site than all of mine combined! ROFL

It’s all good though … it’s good practice, and will look good on my resume when he’s elected.

Anyways, it’s a lazy rainy day … at some point I’ve got to go clean out my old car. Big Jim is coming over Monday to help us take out my old disk changer (we’re going to put it in Jim’s car after his engine is fixed). I hate to let go of that old car, but I soooooooooooo love my new one.

Oooh, and before I forget. I don’t think I posted, but several of you have asked: Jim and I have set a date. June 21st - Summer Solstice.

4. Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.
5. The CD was introduced the year they were born.
6. They have always had an answering machine.
7. They have always had cable.
8. They cannot fathom not having a remote control.
9. Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.
10. Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.
11. They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.
12. They can’t imagine what hard contact lenses are.

This weekend didn’t exactly go the way I had planned … not that I had anything solid in mind, heh. Friday was a good day, the whole car thing you know. *g* It rained for the majority of the weekend … cold wet drizzly crap … no snow though. (I guess two weekends in a row is pushing it)

Saturday was fun, but I think I drank WAY too much. Over half a fifth of Absolut and a whole bottle of Bailey’s. *ugh*

I have some video footage — mostly the guys funneling beer — but forgot to keep taking pictures. Jim had a good time too … he drank more than I did, and after I sobered up, had to get our crap packed up and wrestle him into the car. (Super-Uber-Mega-Thanks to John and Miranda for helping me break down and pack up our gear!!!) And of course, Jim drinks like a fish, AND he also doesn’t get hangovers. (bastard) Me on the other hand, I drank a little … and was sick a lot. LOL

Spent most of yesterday recovering. In fact, all I did was bitch and moan about my stomach hurting and lay on the couch. Jim was a good sport though, he baby’d me and helped clean up around the house a little.

What a dear.

Of course, all of my gear is still sitting in the living room floor. So tonight if I want to do anything, I’ll have to hook everything up again and put my desk back in order — I tore it apart Saturday morning looking for the spare USB cable to my camera.

Today’s Bit O’ Funny: I emailed my brother to tell him about getting a new car and a quick fill in on what happened this weekend. His response: “Congrats on the car, and can you get any dorkier than a LAN party? Just kidding (well….kinda)……”
