I received great news from <prospective hopeful> … I’m hired!!!! I went in yesterday to fill out paperwork and will start orientation on Monday. (HIPAA, security, etc. training … it’s been a while!)
You are now looking at the newest Web Designer for the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
YAY!!!! I got a job!!!!!!
hehehe … can you tell I’m excited?
I’ll be doing a lot of Sharepoint work in the new job, pretty much brushing up on my ASP and picking up .NET and Sharepoint development — something that I’ve wanted to do for a while but never had the means or opportunity. This is WAY too sweet to pass up. (And I’ve wanted to work for this place for a long time and have heard great things about them!)
I had every intention of posting this last night when I finally got home, but it was late and I had the biggest headache.
Anyways, I’m so happy to have a job again and will be getting out of the house! LOL!!

Hi Roy, thanks.
I’ve been looking at Silverlight over the past week, however it won’t install on my home pc for some reason and from what I read it isn’t yet working for Firefox. But I will definitely be keeping an eye on it as I am told that it will give Adobe a run for their money! I’m interested in seeing what Microsoft has planned for it.
Looks like we will be at UAB together soon! I am so happy for you and I hope to see you Friday.
That’s awesome hon!
I hope I can make it, but I don’t know yet about my hours and all that. I will know closer to the event and will update accordingly.
YEA!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS NICKI!!!!!!!

Wow! Not only did you get a job, but you got one at your favorite university. This is awesome, Nicki….congratulations to you.
Rock on!
Now all you need to do is blag me a remote access position and i can quit my crappy job. Congrats pickle. It’s been a long time coming hopefully now they’ll be less stressing, and slightly more time having fun (read: irc’ing)
@John: Thanks.
@Rick: Thanks.
UAB isn’t quite directly affiliated with Univ of Alabama anymore, plus they have their own sports programs. (And unfortunately many ‘Bama fans refuse to pull for UAB, but I support them! :))
@Ben: Thank you sweetie!
My new boss and coworkers are really nice and I think we’ll all get along great. I’m so looking forward to jumping in and getting my feet wet, LOL! ![]()
Ah—guess I needed to read a little more closely. “University of Alabama at Birmingham” Kind of like here in Oregon, Portland State is a great school, but they have a tough time being recognized by the die-hard Duck and Beaver fans for anything.
hehe, yeah. I wish I could work for U of A, but it’s a 2+ hour commute each way, LOL! Anyways, UAB is better because it also has its own healthcare system, hospitals, clinics, and God knows what else. I swear, this institution/company takes up about three quarters of downtown Birmingham alone! ![]()
*W00t* And the crowd goes nuts (pistachios, of course)
Congrats, doll. I am now entirely envious.
*Hugs*

Though for a few days I won’t be on the ‘net as much as I normally am, LOL. It’ll be a few days before I’m fully “settled” in. ![]()

Congrats! Saw your announcement on Jaiku via your Twitter note. Wish I worked in a organization that used Microsoft technologies instead of Java/Oracle. Take a look at the just announced Microsoft Silverlight technology as it will likely impact your job soon in a positive way. http://silverlight.net | http://microsoft.com/silverlight
