Time for a new monitor?

I worked from home yesterday and ran into a bit of aggravation. My 19″ LCD has started flickering off and on sporadically recently, but for the most part it would stop if I changed the refresh rate. Last night it wouldn’t stay on and so I had to unhook it from my laptop. Jim thinks perhaps it’s a bad cable. I haven’t had a chance yet to test it out on one of our other machines, but it’s about 2 years old now … if it is going bad, it’s just one more thing that I will have to put off replacing until after the Disney trip.

*sigh*

In a way though, I guess this could be a good thing. I had actually been thinking on getting a widescreen LCD and maybe putting it up on the wall behind my desk using one of those flat panel mounts I see all the time in Best Buy. Or maybe a dual monitor set … either way, it’s the waiting part that sucks. ;P

BYKYC is moving

Jim posted a note to his site earlier this week, we decided that the best thing to do for his site is to move it from our server at home to a web provider. We’re really happy with the speed we’re getting from Charter, but we’re unable to get a static IP (a necessary to hosting your own DNS server) and rather than go through a 3rd party service, we decided to move the whole shebang to Lunarpages. (not that I’m biased or anything, but they rule dontchaknow! )

Guess what I’ll be doing this weekend?

Actually, it’ll be good for his site. The speed and stability will be MUCH better, plus LP has excellent customer support. (And the move from a Windows environment to Linux will make site administration a lot easier, IMO) Of course, I’ll be there to help him learn where everything is in CPanel and the various LP account menus, and help him export and re-import his blog once the files are all in place.

So if you find the site down this weekend, just assume that we’re mucking around in its guts and it’ll be back up and running again faster than you can open that spam sitting in your Inbox offering you ‘phentermine without prescription‘!! :lol:

Today’s payday and I’m going shopping with my mother tomorrow. (Shopping is good, mmmkay?) We’ll probably take it easy this weekend otherwise … for the most part our efforts are going to be put towards saving for the Mickey Trip. :mrgreen:

I called Charter first thing this morning and swapped our phone and internet over to them. Our internet will be installed first thing in the morning, so that’s way cool. The phone will be swapped over in a few days, and will have many more features for the price we’ll be paying than what BellSloth/AT&T was offering.

Saving money is good, mmmkay?

Even better, Charter is handling the number transfer and canceling the BellSloth/AT&T stuff for us. Hooray, hooray, no more stupid forms or digital signage.

Oh, and the faster speeds will be WAY sweet.

Work seems to be settling down just the tiniest bit, but I’m sure that’s because a good many of my clients are out of town and/or on vacation. Works for me! This frees me up to plan our next excursion:
